Every cabinet, filler, and countertop in your new kitchen is built from these numbers. A few millimetres off can mean gaps, doors that don’t align, or materials that have to be re-ordered. That’s why we come to your home and measure every detail of the space ourselves — walls, corners, ceiling height, windows, and openings — before any design begins.

Why the PIV matters

Before installation day, we visit again for a pre-installation visit (PIV). We check whether the new kitchen can actually be implemented as designed, see exactly what the installation will involve, and spot the problems we might face — with the solutions ready before work starts, not during it.

Plumbing — positions, condition, changes needed
Electrical — outlets, lighting, appliance feeds
Walls, floors & layout — anything that could affect the install

Measurement, design, and PIV are completely free — so you know exactly what your kitchen will involve before you commit to anything.

Option 1 · IKEA Kitchen

The full IKEA kitchen process

Eight stages, start to finish. We know IKEA materials inside out — the cabinets, the accessories, the options most people never hear about — and we install it perfectly, like a custom kitchen.

Join at any stage. Already demolished your old kitchen? Already have a design? Pick up with us from wherever you are — we take your project from that point to the end.

Demolition

We remove the old kitchen completely — boxes, countertop, backsplash, cabinetry, old floor, everything — and leave the space ready. Already done it yourself? Skip straight to the next stage.

Measurement FREE

We visit your home and measure every detail of your kitchen and space. Accurate measurements are the foundation of the whole project — and this visit costs you nothing.

Designing FREE

Also completely free, with plenty of back-and-forth. You bring your ideas; we add recommendations on features, technical details, and colours — and suggest IKEA accessories, options, and designs you may not know exist.

Ordering

When the design is final, we help you order all your materials correctly and completely, so nothing is missing or wrong when installation day comes.

Installation

Your kitchen is installed perfectly, with the fit and finish of a custom kitchen — aligned, level, and built to last. Before we start, the free PIV has already checked your plumbing, electrical, and space.

Countertops & backsplashes

Quartz and stone countertops, paired with stone, quartz, or tile backsplashes. Choose the combination that finishes your kitchen the way you pictured it.

Flooring

Tile, ceramic tile, vinyl — everything. We install the floor that suits your kitchen, your household, and your budget.

Painting

Wall painting is available as an additional service, so the room around your new kitchen looks as fresh as the kitchen itself.

Option 2 · Affordable Custom Kitchen

Same process. Different materials.

An affordable custom kitchen follows the exact same eight stages as an IKEA kitchen — demolition through painting. The difference is the material: instead of IKEA, you choose from prefabricated materials, with their own range of door styles, colours, and finishes.

Also free: measurement, design, and the pre-installation visit (PIV) — and you can join at any stage, just like the IKEA path.

Stages 1–2

Demolition & measurement. Old kitchen removed if you need it, then every detail of your space measured in your home — free.

Stages 3–4

Design & ordering. Free design with back-and-forth on layout, features, and colours, choosing your prefabricated materials together. We help with ordering.

Stages 5–6

Installation, counters & backsplash. Installed perfectly after a free PIV checks plumbing and electrical. Quartz and stone countertops; stone, quartz, and tile backsplashes.

Stages 7–8

Flooring & painting. Tile, ceramic tile, vinyl — everything — plus wall painting as an additional service to finish the room.

Option 3 · Kitchen Refacing

A fresh kitchen, at the lowest price.

If your cabinet boxes are in good shape, there’s no need to replace them. In a refacing, we keep all your cabinetry boxes and change only the doors, panels, and fillers — so your kitchen looks modern and new, like a fresh kitchen, for the lowest price of our three options.

Good to know: refacing works when your existing boxes are solid and you’re happy with your current layout. We’ll tell you honestly at the free measurement visit if it’s right for your kitchen.

Free measurement & check. We visit, measure everything, and confirm your boxes are worth keeping.

Step 2

Choose doors & colours. Pick your new door style and colour — the look of the whole kitchen changes here.

Step 3

New doors, panels & fillers. We fit the new fronts precisely, so the kitchen looks brand new — no full renovation needed.

Custom PAX Closets

A PAX closet, customized and finished like a built-in.

We take IKEA PAX frames and customize them around your room, your clothes, and your idea of the perfect closet — then finish them so they look like they were built with the house, not added to it. This is York Kitchen’s design and installation service, built on the IKEA PAX system.

Your idea leads. A single reach-in, a full wall, a corner, or a complete dressing room — tell us the space and what you need to store, and we’ll design the PAX combination and the built-in finishing around it.

Measurement & your idea

We visit your home and measure the space in detail — wall width, ceiling height, baseboards, and any slope or corner — and talk through your idea: what you store, how you dress, and the look you want.

Design

We plan the layout, frame combination, doors, panels, and finishing details for your space, and design the interior around how you dress — long hanging for dresses and coats, double hanging for shirts and pants, and drawers where you actually need them.

Ordering

When the design is final, we help you order the PAX frames, doors, and KOMPLEMENT interior fittings correctly and completely, so nothing is missing or wrong when installation day comes.

Installation & built-in finishing

We install the closet and finish it like a built-in: panels and fillers are added and scribed to your ceiling, walls, and floor, closing the gaps so there is no unfinished space left at the top, the sides, or the bottom.

KOMPLEMENT interiors, planned around you

Using IKEA’s KOMPLEMENT interior fittings, we mix and match the inside of each frame so everything you own has its place.

Drawers & shelves

Drawers for folded clothes and smaller items, with shelves above for stacking, bags, and storage boxes.

Clothes rails

Long hanging for dresses and coats, double hanging for shirts and pants — set at the heights your clothes actually need.

Dividers & trays

Frame dividers and pull-out trays keep watches, jewellery, belts, and accessories sorted and easy to reach.

Shoes & baskets

Shoe storage down low where it belongs, plus baskets for the odds and ends every closet collects.

PAX frame sizes — from IKEA Canada: frames come in widths of 50, 75, and 100 cm (19⅝″, 29½″, and 39¼″), two depths — 35 cm (13¾″) for shelves and folded clothes, or 58 cm (22⅞″) for hanging clothes — and two heights, 201 cm (79¼″) and 236 cm (92⅞″). We combine them to fit your wall, then do the custom finishing on top. Open, hinged, or sliding doors — we’ll help you choose the combination that suits the room.
